Last holiday I decided to try the sorbet ice cream, traditional ice cream made handcrafted. I went to visit a famous ice cream shop in the Central Market of San José –La Sorbetera de Lolo Mora - where they offer typical desserts of Costa Rica and my friends had recommended. It is a small soda in the market, near the south-east entrance which has two bars where people sit down to eat.

I went inside the place was full and many people waited. I was waiting for a great time when I finally sat down at the bar and waited a few minutes for the service. When the barman asked me what I wanted to order then I ordered him a medium ice cream cup with a packet of wafers. The man retired to prepared my order and I was watching like he prepared what I ordered. A few minutes later I noticed that order was ready but he didn´t bring me it.

I called the man and I asked him why he didn´t bring my order. It was when he told me that I had to cancel the account before serving. In the place had a car that said *Please cancel to the serve*.

A long time ago, I was visiting Honduras. In Some morning I wanted to eat baleadas. Baleadas is a tipical food in this country. I saw " plaease give me a baleada", because in Costa Rica is very comon to say "give me", but the woman didn' t sell me one, and then I understood. I told her "my intention is to pay". Finally, she gave me one and she saw me "give me ten Lempiras".

  4. Extra Activity

I started to work in the ITCR in 2011, the first semester I taught in two groups of "Matemática General" and one of "Cálculo y Álgebra Lineal".
One month after that the classes began I realize that I have a lot of quices that the students hadn't claimed, so I decided looking for a place to save its. Then I saw a empty carton, so I put all the quices into it.
One week later, when I came back to the office after a class, I saw the box empty again, I started to look for the quices but I din't find it. I called to the secretary asking about some quices in a box that I had in my office, so she asked me about the characteristic of the box, when I said to her how was the box she asked me: "what said in front of the box?", I read that the box said "Recycling". She started to laugh and told me that the concierge took the waste paper of this boxes to carry recycling...
I had to run looking for the concierge, he told me that he put all this paper into a big recycle bag, so I had to review one by one all the paper in the bag until find all the quices... Since then I learned that I haven't to put important documents into the recycling box... I felt really stupid!!!

Last year I went abroad to Mexico. I knew Mexico for its music and food. I was excited, because I really like the Mexican food, so I was wishing been there to taste it. When I arrived to Mexico I decided to look for a “fonda”, when I found it I ask for a “torta del Chavo”, it is a kind of sandwich with jam and cheese. I ate it and it was really good.

Some days later I went to a restaurant and a waiter suggest me to have “chiles en nogada”, I didn’t know what that meal was, but I order it. When the waiter brought me the meal I tasted it and I almost choked because it was very spicy.

The waiter was very worried about me, because he forgot to tell me that the meal has chili. I had to lick salt to relief the burning. From that day I always ask for meal without chili when I go to a Mexican food restaurant.

    Tips in Mexico

In the last February I went to Mexico DF with some friends. We were decided to taste the original Mexican food and its particular hot pepper taste. We stayed at the “Hotel Catedral”, it is at 200 meters from the Zocalo. We arrived to Mexico in the afternoon, so we decided to start our culinary adventure by eating in the hotel’s restaurant.
We choose a table and one of the waiters came to us to take our order. I ordered quesadillas with huitlacoche (it is a type of fungus that grow in the corncob). My friends chose other different dishes. The food was wonderful, and I talked with the chef about the huitlacoche. When we end our dinner, we called to the waiter and ask him for our bill. Few seconds after, he came with the bill and a little plate, put them on the table and went to serve to other guest. We looked each other because we didn’t understand why he left this plate. I put my credit card with the bill in to the plate and then the man came back, he looked the plate and waited next to our table without to say nothing… I thought this man is a little weird...
After few seconds the man asked how many tip we want give them… In this moment all was very clear: in Costa Rica the bill in the bars or restaurants include a 10% for the concept of serving service, in Mexico al the clients decide how many money left by de serving service or tip the service staff. In this momento we laugh a lot.
